Malaysia’s Loh Wei Sheng started his journey in a positive fashion as he defeated his lower ranked country-mate Chan Kwong Beng in Men’s Singles Group C at Maybank National Circuit GP Finals 2012 in Malaysia, on Thursday, December 27.
The impressive Loh Wei, who is the eighth seeded player in Men’s Singles category, put up smashing show of top class badminton and managed to oust his un-seeded challenger while taking 32 minutes in the arena.
Loh Wei was quite comfortable in the opening set as he played with superb precision but he had to dig into his arsenal to win the second game. He ended up this match in straight games by a convincing total on the board.
Meanwhile, the lower ranked Chan Kwong tried his best to play positive badminton but he failed to shake the confidence of his challenger in the first game.
Nevertheless, the un-seeded Malaysian played better badminton in the second set but failed to prove his worth in the concluding points and eventually bowed down to Loh Wei in straight sets.
Loh Wei delivered remarkably well from the starting rallies of first set as he played with spectacular speed and took over the control of the game.
The impressive craft and tricky game plan assisted Loh Wei to keeps his rival in all sorts of trouble on court.
Eighth seeded Loh Wei progressed with a superb speed in the starting half and remained in lead on score board until the one-minute interval.
The underdog Chan Kwong failed to play positive game after the one-minute break as he lost his focus in the arena.
Loh Wei did not reduce the pace of the game at any stage and remarkable grabbed the first set with a reasonable 21-12 score on the board.
In the second game, Chan Kwong showed his incredible skills and played batter badminton that helped him to stay close to his opponent until the end of opening half.
After the break, the score progressed in a tight fashion but it was Loh Wei who played smart badminton and managed to take the game with a close 21-19 score on the board.
The impressive Loh Wei managed to overpower Chan Kwong in straight sets with a dominating total of 21-12 and 21-19.
