Lohaynny Vicente clears opening round of Canadian International Challenge – Badminton news
Women’s Singles expert Lohaynny Vicente of Brazil defeated Suneeta Khare in the opening round of Ottawa Canadian International Challenge and moved into pre quarter-final round on June 26, 2013.
This 38-minute tussle took place in a local badminton arena of Ottawa and both contenders kept the audience intact while piling up the final figures of 24-26, 21-14 and 21-9.
The Brazilian campaigner had a sluggish start and lost the opening game but then she managed to rule the court in ending two games and locked the honour. Meanwhile, Suneeta could not relish full benefits of first set win and faced a woeful exit from the
home event.
In first set of the match, the Canadian shuttler looked in prime touch as she matched her rival’s skills in all areas of game and served the notice of her dominance in pressure situation. She was bit cautious in the establishing rallies and this passive
approach kept her at the lower end.
However, she managed to rise on her toes after few gruelling rallies and registered an impressive total before interval. After the one-minute break, both female shutters snapped at each other’s heels and made this a memorable contest.
They remained equal on points table until the game point situation and finally this nerve-racking set ended when Suneeta placed a concluding figure of 26-24.
The second set of match changed the scenario as Lohaynny stormed back into the contest and levelled the match score. This time, she did not repeat previous mistakes and played with great precision in the preliminary stage of set.
The Brazilian shuttler displayed premium badminton skills on the court and wrapped this segment of showdown with a favourable margin of 21-14. This timely win boosted her confidence and she utilised this confidence in third set of match.
In the decider, Lohaynny unleashed a flurry of power packed strokes and confined her challenger in the rear court. She maintained that upper hand all the way to half time and placed an impressive figure of 11.
Latter part of the game was also dominated by her as she put a winning margin of 21-9 without any trouble.
