Heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, the France international has finally spoken about his future and has said that staying at Marseille will not be a problem for him
In less than 24 hours, the transfer window in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 will shut down meaning that English clubs will not be able to make any signings. So inevitably, the final day of the transfer window promises to be a lively affair. One of the biggest movers of the transfer
window could be http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international Loic Remy.
Under contract at Ligue 1 outfit http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127, the former OGC Nice striker has attracted considerable interest from English Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur.
Yesterday morning, it was reported that Tottenham president, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy visited Marseille to finalise the transfer of Loic Remy. However, in the afternoon, the Spurs manager confirmed that the club had abandoned the pursuit of the striker.
At the end of the Europa League tie with Sheriff Tiraspol, the striker came out of his silence to discuss his future. Remy confirmed that there was contact with the London club. However, the striker says that negotiations stalled.
“Yes, there were discussions. But there are no deeper relations between the club and Tottenham. Nothing concrete came out of those discussions. I expect to see myself here. Tomorrow (Friday), it (transfer window) will be finished in England.”
Failure to see a positive outcome following negotiations between the two clubs means that the former Lyon striker will have to stay put at the Canebiere. However, Remy is not at all worried about missing out on a big-money move.
“Like I said at the end of last season, it was a goal for me to have a good season here. A third season has surprised many people. I’m still here, I am better prepared physically, and rearing for a good season with Marseille. After that, anything can happen.
I wanted to stay, I’m here, there are no problems.”
However, with the way transfers have happened this summer all over Europe, the last day of the English transfer window could be very decisive in determining the future of Loic Remy.
