Les Phoceens would be hoping that the defeat against Valenciennes in their previous Ligue 1 encounter was nothing more than a hiccup, as they prepare to host arch-rivals, Paris Saint-Germain, at Stade Velodrome.
Marseille striker, Loic Remy has expressed his excitement at the prospect of taking on the oil-money-fuelled club from the capital.
The 25 year-year-old was talking to ligue1.com about the top-of-the-table duel with the Parisiens, and is upbeat about his side’s chances of defeating Carlo Ancelotti’s men on Sunday.
The Frenchman said that the game against the Ile giants holds a lot of significance and Marseille need to win in order to stop PSG from creating their hegemony in French football.
Remi added that the atmosphere at Stade Velodrome would be electric and playing in such conditions would be amazing.
"I cannot wait for the match against Paris Saint-Germain and to enjoy the atmosphere surrounding the game," the France international told reporters.
Les Phoceens are currently first in the league are leading their Sunday’s opponents by three points. However, a defeat on Sunday would push Elie Baup’s side down to second place, as the visitors enjoy superior goal difference.
Loic Remy, who arrived at Stade Velodrome from Nice in 2010, believes that OM have what is takes to beat the Parisiens, and Marseille have a good chance of winning against Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
"We've got quality and team spirit. That the spirit what we need to retain in all circumstances. We were lacking that spirit and confidence last season and we all saw the consequences.”
The striker said that PSG have a lot of quality players at their disposal but Olympique de Marseille are better when it comes to collective contribution.
"This season the collective contribution is the most important thing. I know, on Sunday we'll do what we need to do to win the game, and hopefully we manage to do that."
Les Phoceens play host to Paris Saint-Germain at Stade Velodrome this Sunday.
