Newcastle United may be set to sign Marseille striker and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international Loic Remy, who has recently sparked rumours about a possible transfer with his latest comments.
The player was understood to be on Newcastle’s radar in the summer, when he was strongly linked with a move to Tyneside along with compatriot and Lille player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Debuchy-c24682.
The Magpies were not sure about striker Demba Ba’s future at the club, and his contract clause left his situation in doubt all summer long. However, the Senegalese international ended up staying at the club, and all transfer rumours were quashed.
Now, with the January transfer window fast approaching, Newcastle are understood to be keen on making purchases and signing at least three major players.
The Magpies have been struggling in the league and have dropped down to 15th spot after last weekend’s 1-3 defeat against Manchester City. With only 1 win in their last 6 games, Newcastle need to turn their season around. The team has gone from
top 4 contenders to potential relegation battlers, and this has caused manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew to approach the team and the winter transfer window with urgency.
Remy has been on Newcastle’s radar since 2010, and now the club are willing to pay the entire fee up front. Negotiations are expected to be tricky and competitive, especially with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and Tottenham also keen on the 25-year old forward.
Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 have also joined the fray and are understood to be keen on the versatile attacking star. Remy spoke to French press recently and spoke about a possible transfer to Newcastle. The striker had good things to say about the club, which has
raised doubts about his future with Marseille and sparked off numerous stories about a January move to the Premiership. The player said:
“They are a very good team. They are a big club with good players, very good fans and a nice stadium that is always full. The window opens in January and there will be speculation. If I have to leave then all parties must be happy. I have a contract so let’s
wait and see what happens.”
With Ba expected to leave in the January transfer window, especially in the wake of his £7 million release clause, Remy appears to be a solid transfer target for Newcastle. The club has lost many key players to injury this season, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yohan-Cabaye-c37423 and Hatem
Ben Arfa the latest to be sidelined.
Alan Pardew will therefore be very active in the transfer window, ready to make up for the lack of transfer activity in the summer window, where Newcastle only signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vurnon-Anita-c36486 form Ajax.
