Lok Yan Poon and Ying Suet Tse beat local players in qualifying round of Australian Open GP Gold
Hong Kong’s Lok Yan Poon and Ying Suet Tse won their Women’s Singles matches in the qualifying round of the Australian Open GP Gold 2011, in Australia today. Yan Poon hammered Jacqueline Guan of Australia in a one sided match in just 20 minutes, whereas
Ying Tse crushed the local shuttler, Sarah Wong in similar fashion.
The opening day of the event was not lucky for both local shuttlers, as they lost to the impressive players of Hong Kong. Yan Poon delivered wonderful performance against Jacqueline by playing a top quality game. She remained far ahead of the opponent throughout
the first set and won it after a one-sided fight with a 21-12 score on the board in just 11 minutes.
Jacqueline struggled hard in the first-half of the second set, but Yan Poon spared no chance for her to fight back in the game. She finished the second set in an incredible fashion with an impressive margin of 21-8 by consuming just 9 minutes in the court.
The concluding score of this one-sided match was 21-12 and 21-8.
In another match of the Women’s Singles, Ying Tse dominated the local shuttler, Sarah in a straight-set match. The Australian could not match the speed and skills of the opponent in the entire opening set. Ying Tse was uncontrollable in her aggressive play
and quickly won the opening set in just 8 minutes with a completely one-sided score of 21-6.
Ying Tse again found no difficulty in setting a comfortable lead of 11-7 in the opening part of the second set. After the 60-second break, Sarah worked well and scored five points in a row and levelled the score at 15-15. Ying Tse accelerated her speed and
destroyed the hopes of the crowd by scoring the remaining points of the set. She finished the second set in just 12 minutes with a 21-16 margin. The ending score of this two-set match was 21-6 and 21-16.
In the next match, Yan Poon will face Pei Hsin Chiang of Chinese Taipei, whereas Ying Tse will take on Vinning Mak of Australia.
