Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK win a Playoffs 12 match by 3-1 – Volleyball news
The German men’s volleyball team of Generali UNTERHACHING had a match with the Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK on the February 1.
The German city of Munich played host to the competition between the two sides that was part of the Playoffs 12 of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League. The venue of the competition was the Generali Sports Arena.
The total number of spectators that came to watch the match were 1,518 and they did not leave the gym disappointed as the two teams took the match to four long and thrilling sets. It took the Siberian players 103 minutes in all to bag the match at the following
final set scores: 25-19, 20-25, 25-16 and 25-23.
The coach of the losing team, Mihai Paduretu, expressed his disappointment in the following words after the game had ended, “Our guys fought very hard, against a team like that you can easily lose in about an hour. With a little bit of luck in the fourth
set ... Who knows what could have happened.”
On the other hand, the Siberian coach, Andrei Voronkov, had the following comments to make about the victory achieved by his side, “I think that we are in a very good position. You must not forget that they will have to travel ten hours across six time zones
- and it will be minus 30 degrees Celsius in Novosibirsk.”
The first set of the match saw the hosts take the lead at 8-7 but the Russians were able to get the advantage back and secure a lead at 16-11. The competition became tough after that and as the opening frame reached its close, the Russians were able to bag
a win at 25-19.
The loss of the first frame triggered the home team into action and they were able to rally themselves together in order to assert themselves over the Russians. As a result, the home team was able to equalize the match by securing the frame at 25-20.
However, the second frame was the only one in which the home team was able to earn a win as the third and the fourth were bagged by the Russians at 25-16 and 25-23 respectively.
