Lol, did i almost just kill myself?

Question

I took two 9 volt batteries and put them together and in like 1 minute i realised i put them togetther and they were hot like ~150 degrees fahrenheit.

If i didn't pull them apart, would they have exploded?

because one of them was "bolging" at the bottum and bent the metal...

Its possible... Very possible that they could have exploded. But they would have had to be together for a longer period of time.
