Question:

Lolita to school? Activities, education...?

For my next school non-uniform, I would like to wear some Lolita clothes. I'm a lifestyle loli, so basically, I do things very ladylike... I enjoy things like sewing, playing croquet, horse riding, hosting tea parties etc. etc. Of course, it comes with posture, holding yourself upright and such things.

Well, what I would like to do at school is use it as a way of educating people on the fashion and presenting a good image of Lolita. No one seems to know what it is except my 2 best friends, and it would be interesting to see pupils and teachers reactions!!

But, I'm worried that people will be awful about it, and so is my mother.

If I can go ahead with it, I was wondering if there were any activities I could do and such. Any ideas?!

  1. I taught my husband how to sew (hand and by machine), but that doesn't make him lady-like. It's just a talent. Have you not heard of Tailors? That is the male version of a seamstress (a woman who sews). But aside from that, why not invite the kids in your school over for a tea party, do it themed and if people don't know what to wear give them suggestions in the invitation. Some schools don't allow soliciting, even if you're not selling anything. They may not let you bring anything in because they may act like you're doing a "show and tell" and there are only certain times for that.

Lolita reminds me more of dressing up like a doll than dressing lady like. The outfits typically worn by loli's look like a provocative outfit for a 5 year old. Lady-like would be more of the gowns (floor length) worn in victorian times. But that's jut my two cents.

I would go with something like that, maybe a big puff dress with a fancy baby collar and scrunched ribbon sleeves.

Maybe you could bring cookies and give them out, teach some kids how to sew, and if you can, maybe set up a game of croquet [[:

  3. buy the uniform at kmart

  4. I wouldn't bother trying to educate people on it unless they ask. Always remember to tell them that it has nothing to do with the novel and the western connotation of the word!

When I wear lolita to school I get just as many compliments as people mocking me, and I just ignore the mocking.
