Lolos Joe dominates Bettor.com Northern Irish Derby 550 Round 2 at Drumbo Park
Lolos Joe recorded the fastest time in the second round of Bettor.com Northern Irish Derby, held at Drumbo Park on Saturday, June 9th. Heat 2 saw the dashing hound stopping the clock in 30.01 seconds over 550 yards.
Whiterock missed the feat by a short head’s distance, as he covered the area in 30.02 seconds in the opening heat of the round.
Heat 1 saw Whiterock demonstrating a wonderful act all the way through. After leaving the red box with odds of 7 to 4, the white and black dog established his dominance at the first bend. Kelly’s charge stayed wide and outsmarted his rivals with ridiculous
ease, seizing the top place by two and a quarter lengths.
Captain Scolari was evenly away, securing the second position by ¼ a length. Brae Boy could not trouble the top pair, but managed to end up among top-3 by three lengths.
Lolos Joe was flawless in the second heat. The 550 yards contest saw Craven’s charge maintaining the highest standards all the way through, beating the favourite hound, Ruthless Man, by one and a quarter lengths.
Despite a crowded run up, the black and white succeeded in grabbing the runner-up place quite easily. He defeated Lemon Velvet by four lengths.
Heat 3 was probably the least entertaining event. As expected, the 6-4 joint favourite, Star Head, gave his rivals no chance to fancy their chances.
After coming out of the third stall, he did a wonderful job and despite being forced to check early on, he managed to blitz his opponents comprehensively.
Royal Patrol, the joint favourite, was outclassed by Tubbertelly Duke, who surprisingly notched up the runner-up place. A. McCann’s trainee was holding the odds of 10 to 1, but stunned everyone with his tremendous work, covering the area in 30.41 seconds.
In the final heat of the second round, Devilacare performed excellently to ensure the top rank by two and a half lengths. An early pace helped A. McCloskey’s sprinter put the opposition under enormous pressure.
Retaining his advantage till the winning post, the 6-4 favourite hound wrapped up the affair in 30.16 seconds. Gizmo Titan was runner-up whereas the third place belonged to Project Manager.
