  1. I would not recommend them for functional point & shoot.

    Couple of reasons:

The Holga model (the most popular lomo) takes 120 medium format film, not everywhere will process this, and fewer places scan it.

The Holga isn't a serious photographic tool, it leaks light, the plastic lens causes severe colour fringing, the viewfinder bears limited relation to what you get on film, it's totally un-metered blah blah blah....

It has its uses, it gives quirky results, much admired by retro and lo-fi afficinadios.

It is a point and shoot, but only because you can't do much else with it.

If photographic quality, such as being in focus and correctly focused matter, and you don't have loads to spend, and want to use film then get an olympus stylus II / mju II.

Nice bright & sharp well behaved lens and good meter (with a spot option for certain applications)

I don't know if you can still buy these new, but a wee look on ebay should find you one, the version with the 35mm f2.8 lens is what pro photographers use as a back up to their film cameras, and what most climbers etc use.

I got one in mint condition for £15.
