London 2012 Olympic Games organisers come under fire for keeping prestige tickets
The London 2012 Olympic Games organizers are being criticised for keeping a batch of prestige tickets for the upcoming Olympic Games. These prestige tickets have been sold in the latest tickets release for as high as £1,800.
The prestige tickets that have been allotted to those who can afford the luxury have a price range according to the services offered with it. The least price that was paid for these tickets amounted to £295. Such tickets were mainly offered for the canoeing
event that is scheduled to take place at Dorney, Bucks.
On the other hand, the most expensive tickets provide a seat at the Olympic Stadium but it also comes with other privileges. These include a reception with champagne as well as a full three course dinner later on.
The London organisers gave an estimated amount of 80,000 tickets to sell to Company Prestige Ticketing. A spokesman from the company commented on the recent ticket sales in the following manner, “The income from these programmes provides a vital source of
revenue that makes the Games more accessible. Tickets for the Opening Ceremony would not be available to the public at £20.12 if there were not tickets at £2,012 that subsidise the cheaper ones.”
A resident of Essex, Paul Roberts, made the following comments on the recent ticket sales while talking to The Sun, “We were told it was going to be the Games for the people. But I didn’t realise they were talking about people with big wallets and cash to
burn.”
The London 2012 Olympic Games are set to start from July 27th and the total number of tickets that have been sold so far equal to more than seven million. Other than that, the Paralympics have generated ticket sales of 1.25 million. However, there is still
a solid figure of 3 million tickets that have to be sold. These include a large portion of seats that are still available for the football matches.
Other than that, the organizers of the Olympic Games have asserted that they would be providing an opportunity to ticket holders who want to resell them but the details of the process have not been divulged.
