London 2012 Olympic Games ticket holders not to post videos or images of Olympics online
It has recently been revealed that the London Organisers for the Olympic Games will take severe action against the ticket holders who are found to have been sharing images or videos of the London 2012 Olympic Games online.
There is another rule in a series of rules that have come out so far from the London organizers which are aimed to boost revenue from the London 2012 Olympic Games that are scheduled to take place from July 27. By having all the exclusive rights to any form
of marketing of the Games that are coming to the capital of England for the third time in history, the London organisers will be able to generate more revenue.
The following statement was released by the London organisers, “Images, video and sound recordings of the Games taken by a ticket holder cannot be used for any purpose other than for private and domestic purposes and a ticket holder may not license, broadcast
or publish video and/or sound recordings, including on social networking websites and the internet more generally.”
However, the recent addition to the rules and regulations to be followed while attending the Olympic Games do not seem to sit too well with people, particularly the photographers. There have been some reported incidences that local photographers have been
issued a warning from the security staff at having pictures of the Olympic village taken from outside its boundaries.
It is not only the ticket holders that have been asked not to do any online sharing of images and videos but the officials as well as the participating athletes have also been given strict guidelines to follow. The athletes have been made to sign a lengthy
document that details the manner in which they should conduct themselves once the Games begin. This includes not being allowed to post any video or audio online. However, the athletes and the Olympic officials have been given the flexibility to put up photos
online which are taken at the Olympic venues. However, these should strictly be for personal use only.
How the Olympic organisers will prevent people from taking photos from their smart phones is yet to be determined.
