London 2012 Olympic Games to wash England in pink, purple and orange
The London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games have taken up the task of covering the all of the United Kingdom in the theme colours of the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games so that the tourists as well as the local residents get into the spirit
of the Games.
Not only that, the theme colours will give the Olympic Games a unique look and as they will be visible all over the country, people will affiliate with the Games to higher degree.
The colours that the London 2012 organisers have picked for the Olympic Games are pink, purple as well as orange. These will be adorned at key spots in cities, towns and hamlets all over the country.
The London 2012 Olympic organisers aim to advertise not only the London 2012 Olympic Games but also the United Kingdom during the time that the Games remain operational from July 27 until August 12.
A positive image of the country on the visiting spectators will increase the number of tourists in the United Kingdom in the coming years and give return on investments made and costs incurred for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The total amount of money
that is being spent on the Olympic Games by the British government equals to be 9.3 billion pounds. However, it is expected that the money spent is going to be returned back through revenue earned over some years time.
David Goldblatt, who is the author of ‘How to Watch the Olympics’ commented on the strategy taken up by the LOCOG in the following manner, “The people who are running these things and their paymasters and mistresses have convinced themselves that you hold
these things to sell yourselves to the world. The selling of brand GB(Great Britain)/London is at the heart of the rationale. If people are going to take pictures, you've got to dress the set. The genius of Los Angeles is that they realized it.”
The London 2012 Olympic Games will not be the only one to have taken the opportunity and marketed the host country as well as the city in order to generate tourism, Los Angeles already did so in 1932.
