London Irish battle past London Wasps in thrilling match – Rugby News
London Irish edged past London Wasps by 21-17 after a close contest in the ongoing Aviva Premiership on November 26, at Reading. Tom Homer delivered a Man of the Match performance for London Irish side with all points to his name. He kicked seven penalty
goals into the Wasps posts. Wasps fly-half Nicky Robinson also did a good job for his team but could not save his side from total collapse. He scored 12 individual points for London Wasps as Christian Wade scored the sole try of the match for Wasps.
London Wasps started off the match in a great fashion and took an early lead over their rivals. Nicky Robinson elevated his side with penalty goal to put his team ahead. The score was levelled at 3-3 in the 17th minute as Tom Homer shined for
Irish side. Individual battle between Homer and Robinson made the contest interesting which ultimately favoured the London Irish side with a minor difference of 9-6 at the end of first half.
Wasps equalised the equation to 9-9 right after the resumption of second half and made the encounter more interesting. However, Tom Homer did not stop his good work for London Irish and put his side in a comfortable position of 18-9 with just 16 minutes
left in final whistle. Christian Wade scored the only try of match for Wasps but it was too late for them. London Irish secured the victory with slight difference of 21-17.
