London Irish’s Toby Booth unhappy with his side’s whitewash against Bath
Head coach of London Irish Toby Booth found it really hard saying something nice about his side’s embarrassing 3-30 defeat against Bath at the Recreation Ground.
With this win, Bath put an end to their four-game losing streak, that too in a magnificent way, where Stephen Donald was the highlight of their side, who booted 15 of their 30 points against the Irish outfit. Meanwhile, the opposition offered no resistance
at all to the scoring spree that was enjoyed by Bath.
While comparing the display of strength exhibited by either of sides, Booth said, “In the majority of the facets of the game they were dominant and we looked inexperienced. We didn't get ourselves on the front foot and made life very difficult for ourselves.
We made some poor decisions which brought pressure on ourselves and we couldn't get out of it.”
Booth blamed it entirely on his side’s inability to make the right decisions, which in turn had adversely affected the Irish outfit’s on-field performance during the game. If the decision making had been a little wiser for the Irish side, the result of the
game would not have been so significantly skewed.
Booth added, “We will have a serious look at ourselves because I am bitterly disappointed for the fans that came down. We cannot be proud of what we produced.”
London Irish’s head coach was not excepting such a poor display of performance from his side, who had completely disappointed a huge turnout of fans who were attending the showdown.
Booth explained and said that his side did not come up with appropriate answers on the right time. They gifted away opportunities to the opposition, who scooped up those chances well, as they were in form to make the most out of every opportunity at hand.
By doing so, the Irish outfit was burdened by their unnecessary shortfalls.
In addition, Booth said that they will have to regain their former position and from their recent defeat, they will identify their weaknesses, which had led to their embarrassing episode.
It was also shared by the head coach that they will definitely take it as a learning experience and will subsequently work on their performance for the future games.
