London Olympics 2012: Tine Baun tames Kamila Augustyn in Women’s Singles Group G match
Denmark’s top player Tine Baun was at her best as she proved her elevated craft by winning the Women’s Singles Group G match against Poland’s Kamila Augustyn at the London Olympics 2012 at Wembley Arena, London, on Monday, July 30.
The tall Baun, who is currently World Number 7 and fifth seed in Women’s Singles draw of the event, played top quality badminton against her lower ranked Polish challenger and easily managed to win the match in a dictating manner.
The fifth seeded Baun was one class above her rival in every aspect as she played positive badminton while keeping her speed high and stamped her supremacy over Kamila by finishing off the match in straight games with a clear margin.
The lower ranked Kamila, in the meanwhile, did not put up strong show as she failed to create pressure on her Danish rival in both sets and lost the encounter easily with a humiliating score on the board.
In the opening game, it was Baun who showed strong performance by playing attacking badminton and gave a shocking treatment to Kamila by setting up an incredible lead on score board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Kamila also tried to match the pace of rallies but she could not maintain her balance at the base line and eventually remained struggling.
However, Baun was in complete control as she played with impressive confidence and won the opening set with a striking 21-11 score on the board.
The second set was also the same as Baun showed urgency in taking a strong position by setting up an early lead on score board.
The in-form Danish was superb in her shot selection and she managed to establish a striking lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Baun continued her smooth ride against Kamila without facing any problem. She earned points by manipulating all loopholes of her opponent while remaining focused in the game and won it with a stunning 21-6 score on the board.
The passionate Baun overwhelmed Kamila in a dominating fashion in two games with an incredible margin of 21-11 and 21-6.
