Do you think the London 2012 Olympics opening/closing ceremony will be better than the Beijing 2008 Olympics ceremonies, since we only have half the budget of what Beijing got.. Do you really think that us Brits will amaze the world like how China did?

  1. I believe that we shouldn't even try. There is no reason to be seduced by the opulent decadance of the east. We should use British attributes like our humour, sarcasm and irony. Perhaps the opening ceremony should simply consist of a fourteen year-old skinhead saying to the world "Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough" That would give everyone a laugh, and begin the games in the right spirit.

  2. our opening ceremony will be good, but not on the same level as beijings, we dont have thousands of robots to hit drums so theres bound to be alot more creativity.

and expect to see the red arrows in the opening ceremony that will add a nice british touch to it. if you dont know what they are look up red arrows on youtube, videos do them no justice the sound they make is amazing and when your sitting in a stadium and hear the roar they make long before they go over your bound to get excited or start bricking it thinking its a terrorist attack.

and no i dont know for sure but you can pretty much expect them to make an appearance considering they flew over trafalgar square in 2005 when we were awarded the games and flew over the mall today at the 2012 party.

  3. they've already said they can't match what Beijing did.

mainly because we have human rights in our country, so can't get thousands upon thousands of people to bang a drum simultaneously.

they probably had a gun held to their head in practice.

even the guy who arranged the closing ceremony said that the only place that could do things with huge amounts of people better would be north korea - another 'communist' (dictatorship) country.

  4. no way cause this opening was awsome!! =]

  5. I don't think so (and it isn't a matter of budget) but  try your best and we'll see what happens.

  6. i think it could be pulled off. see what happened in beijing and try to top it.

  7. it will probably be hard to do with only half the budget..it wont be bad though..

  8. its not about the money.. although it does help! If anyone can do it.. london can aswell i for one am looking forward to it. We might not have the most money in the world to spend on it, but im sure we can do just as well.

  9. In one word, No

  10. Britain will do it's best and that's what counts,

  11. it doesn't matter, what is important is the spirt to host it. Even if it fell onto the hands of some countries which can't even afford to build the stadium, the spirit is still there.

Countries like China can invest more and they are doing it for the next generations to come and not just for a single event. It's hard to compare like with like. They have the highese pollution rate in the world but we Brits have a much higher emission level per person.

If it comes to the amount they spent on each person, it's still peanut for them. Let's be hopeful for the 2012 and give it our full support.

  12. the fire works should be better .they could start filming tomorrow.

they have 4 years to find a beautiful singer.

all the chinese gymnasts from these games will be 16

  13. If London aims to be better they can definitely kick butt!!

The London Fire Works are amazing and if they incorporate that I know it will be something special.

  14. Honestly, I do. I think they saw what Beijing did and they are going to go all out to beat them or at least match them.

I think people like Brits and will embrace them well. And, it's not about money but about how creative you are with that money.

I hope they do a great job!

  15. Money is not everything

    You have some great traditions

You have some of the best rock bands all time:  Rolling stone and the Beatles.  Do not forget, even if he is not a band, Sir Elton John

Just the music part of your country, you can do just a good as china

Britain has some great things about it, it could be very good, and less money

  16. truly....

    NEVER!!

  17. Money isn;t the issue, committment is

  18. if you can pull off something better than the hundreds of man powered boxes moving in perfect syncro then u have a chance
