London Olympics 2012 to generate £1 billion in revenues
It has been recently announced that the United Kingdom government is going to take full advantage of the opportunity provided by the London 2012 Olympic Games in order to create a business legacy across the country that is going to serve the purpose of giving
a tremendous economic boost in the years to come.
The initiative is being taken by the UK Trade and Investment which aims to trigger such an endeavour which will have the capacity of creating new businesses that have the ability of generating £1 billion for the country in times to come.
The UK Trade and Investment plans to provide a platform by using the Olympic Games that will bring together people of various nations into London. As the Games provide a platform for networking, several businesses from all over the world are taking up the
opportunity provided by the Olympics to promote themselves in London.
The Prime Minister of England, David Cameroon, expressed himself on the matter in the following words, “This summer's Olympics will put the eyes of the world on Britain as we host not just an unparalleled sporting spectacle, but also a chance for companies
from across the globe to interact and do business here in the UK. A wide range of British companies will be involved alongside the world's leading business figures in this exciting programme of events, putting the UK at the forefront of efforts to resolve
the economic challenges that face us all. We are working hard to make sure the whole country can seize this once in a generation opportunity.”
The city of London was able to seize the bid to stage the Olympic Games in the summer of 2012 way back in the year 2005. The other cities who were willing to host the Olympics along with London were the New York City and Madrid to name a few.
After having successfully hosted the Games this time around, the capital of England will have the honour of playing host to the Olympic Games for a total of three times in its history, becoming the first city in the world to do so.
