London Olympics: Juliane Schenk stamps her supremacy over Larisa Griga in Women’s Singles Group N
Germany’s best female shuttler Juliane Schenk, who is one of the potential title contenders in Women’s Singles category, proved her worth on court as she easily stamped her mark over Ukraine’s Larisa Griga in Group N contest at the 2012 London Olympics on
Monday, July 30, at London, England.
The World Number Six Schenk, who is also the sixth seeded player in Women’s Singles main draw of the championship, was in good rhythm while playing against her un-seeded Ukrainian opponent and easily won the match without any problem.
The in-form German shuttler showed no mercy to Larisa in the entire fight as she played aggressive and controlled badminton and ended it in two sets with a huge difference on score board.
The lower ranked Larisa, in the meanwhile, was helpless against the perfect play of her German opponent as she failed to put up strong resistance on court and eventually lost the match without making her presence strongly felt to the huge crowd at Wembley
Arena.
The sixth seeded Schenk, who has been playing tremendous badminton for the last few months, played with great confidence against Larisa and easily took an impressive lead on score board until the end of opening half of first game.
After the one-minute interval, the Germany shuttler continued her roller-coaster run on court while remaining dominant on court.
On the other hand, Larisa remained struggling on court as she failed to effectively return the shots of Schenk who easily took the opening set with a stunning difference of 21-12.
The second game was not different from the precious set as Schenk again took an early lead by playing with aggression and precision.
The impressive German lady was composed and positive on court and she took a superb lead until the break.
After the mid-game interval, Schenk continued her smooth sailing while keeping her rival away from net and easily finished off the second game with a superb 21-14 margin on the score board.
The spirited Schenk did not face any trouble in winning the match against Larisa in straight games with an inspiring margin of 21-12 and 21-14.
