London Olympics: Parupalli Kashyap tames Yuhan Tan in his first contest in Men’s Singles Group D
India’s ace shuttler Parupalli Kashyap lived up to the expectations in his first contest in Men’s Singles Group D when he showed a steely determination on court and easily tamed Yuhan Tan of Belgium at the 2012 London Olympics on Saturday, July 28, in London.
The in-form Kashyap, who is currently placed at number 21 in Men’s Singles world rankings, put up superb show of elevated badminton in his opening battle in the tournament and thrashed his World Number 54 rival in a stunning fashion.
The higher ranked Indian shuttler was in full swing on court as he easily adjusted with the condition of the court and wrapped up an easy win against Yuhan by ending up the match in two games with a dominating margin on score board.
The opening points of first game were quite interesting when both players showed their passion to take advantage on score board but none of them could take a reasonable lead at the opening stage.
However, the Indian player remained calm and composed and managed to set up a reasonable gap until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Kashyap put up impressive show of positive and dominating badminton as he played with wonderful aggression and did not miss any chance to unleash his powerful smashes.
Kashyap was fully focused on court and he easily managed to take the first set with an authoritative margin of 21-14.
In the following game, Kashyap injected more power into his shots and he was quite comfortable in taking the bird timely. His powerful smashes and impressive net play left no room for Yuhan to get a good rhythm.
Until the break in the second set, the in-form Indian player was leading the score board with a superb margin.
After the one-minute break, Kashyap continued his roller-coaster performance on court as he did not let his opponent to catch up the score at any stage and wrapped up the game with a huge margin of 21-12.
The impressive Kashyap won his first battle in Group D with a completely one-sided 21-14 and 21-12 margin on score board.
