London Olympics: Peter Hoeg Gade tames Pedro Martins in Men’s Singles Group G battle
Denmark’s veteran player Peter Hoeg Gade proved his superior skills on court when he easily registered a comprehensive win over Portugal’s Pedro Martins in Men’s Singles Group G battle at the 2012 London Olympics on Monday, July 30, at Wembley Arena, London.
The World Number 5 Peter Gade, who has been seeded at number 5 in Men’s Singles main draw of the mega event, delivered an elevated performance on court and cheered his huge fan following around the world by ending up the match in an emphatic fashion.
The higher ranked Peter Gade showed his class in the whole contest without sparing any chance for his rival to put up good show and easily managed to win the battle in straight sets with a commanding margin.
In the meanwhile, the un-seeded Pedro could not match the skills and speed of his Danish opponent throughout the battle and found himself helpless against the powerful smashes and perfect droves of Peter Gade. He lost the battle rather easily with a huge
difference on score board.
In the first game, Peter Gade played composed badminton and took his time in getting familiar with the court conditions.
The impressive Danish player played positive and safe badminton in opening rallies and eventually started to gear up his speed and managed a good lead until the break.
After the interval, Peter Gade continued his positive play without letting his rival to catch up the difference on score board.
The fifth seeded Danish shuttler played to his maximum potential in the concluding half and won the first set with a comfortable 21-14 score on the board.
In the following set, Danish player was everywhere on court as he played to his full speed by taking the bird early from all areas and again took a stunning lead on score board until the mid-game break.
After the interval, Peter Gade did not commit unforced errors and maintained his focus all the way in the concluding half to take the game with a huge margin of 21-8.
The spirited Peter Gade easily won his fight against Pedro in straight games with a dominating 21-14 and 21-8 score on the board.
