London Olympics is the favourite current season’s memory for Laura Robson – Tennis News
2012 season is over and each player has gathered a lot of positives and penned down the negatives that needs to be omitted from the game. Some people recorded majestic victories whilst other fell miserably in the ranks but there
is one British kid who definitely sky-rocketed the heights of fame. She is none other than the 18-year-old Laura Robson who ended the year at a very high-note; just three spots behind from a Top-50 breakthrough.
There are a lot of memorable moments for the left-handed youngster who also enjoyed a short reign as the number one Briton before her compatriot and 20-year-old best friend, Heather Watson, crossed her in the rankings and broke
into the Top-50 players. The memorable moment for the 18-year-old youngster was the changeover during her clash against Maria Sharapova in Olympics that were contested at her home soil, the All England Lawn Tennis Club, London.
Robson confessed, “The roof had been closed and the crowd were all chanting my name, it was emotional and I got Goosebumps.” She couldn’t forget that moment and already planning to take part in the Rio Olympics that will are scheduled
to begin in 2016. It wasn’t a bad Olympics experience for the youngster who ended on the side of the second best mix-doubles team with a silver medal to her name. She teamed up with the number one Briton, Andy Murray, and reached the finals before being dumped
by the Belarusian duo.
Watson also wanted to play and commenting about the dilemma of selection for Murray, Robson said, “It was totally understandable for Heather to want to play, I would have felt the same. She was the No 1 ranked singles and doubles
player. I wasn't involved in the process of making the decision but I'm obviously very happy to have been picked. We are both competitive people but we want each other to do well. If we both push on next year then it will be really good.”
At the moment, Robson is enjoying her holidays. She will soon be travelling to Florida to receive some entertainment after a hectic but successful season.
