Question:

London Tube Help! Taxi or Train?

I am off on holiday soon on using a train and I go through London and need a bit of advice.

We arrive at London St Pancras at 9:17am and need to get to London Liverpool Street Station.

Do you think it would be better to get a tube from St Pancras to Liverpool Street or get a taxi? Please bear in mind that we will have 3 suitcases with us and we have never used the tube before. It is hard to find your way around if you've never been before?

Also, how much would it cost to get a Black Cab taxi from St Pancras to Liverpool Street roughly?

Thanks very much in advance.

  1. It is doable by Tube if you are a cheapskate like me. You cross over into Kings Cross, down a flight of steps, get your tickets, and down a longer flight of steps to the eastbound platform. It is only a few stops so it will be quick plus more steps of course at Liverpool Street.

  2. From St. Pancras you can get a direct tube to Liverpool Street on either the Circle or Hammersmith & City lines. It's easy enough, but with three suitcases I would recommend a black cab: it can be hard work lugging cases around on the tube, especially as you've never used it before. A cab will cost around £20, as opposed to £4 each on the tube.

    Have a great holiday!
