I know people who work in London Undergrund Limited, but I am confused about Job Structure/Managment etc. What is the Job structure, such as who and what career is at the top, and who is at the bottom? Also, who manages the system, like what is involved in their project managment (the projects) and who makes decisions fot LU, such as line suspension etc.?

  1. London Underground is a part of Transport for London, run by the Mayor of London and his council. However, much against the Mayors wishes, the underground was made part of a private finance initiative -  Public-Private Partnership schemes and private companies were allowed to put their noses in the trough, the idea being, the Government said, to enable improvements and modernisation to be carries out without appearing as part of public expenditure. Like all such initiatives this will result in the public paying vast sums by way of interest. The site below gives much more information

  2. I am working on the railways for south west trains, and how they do it roughly is have a managing director, operations director, customer servise director, head of stations, project managers, HR director plus maybe a few more. I dont know how the London Underground does it but I am sure it must be similar. Hope this helps

  4. Job structure - Get a job, work it for years, retire on nice pension scheme.

At the top - Head honcho who earns a load for doing nothing much, just having big lunches in Mayfair restaurants.

At the bottom - the guy who cleans the toilets at Kings Cross.

Who manages the system - nobody. It runs itself, like the Roman Empire did for 400 years.

This question sounds like a Uni research topic to me ... and someone couldn't be bothered doing any research for it.
