London Wasps Academy announces list of thirteen players to stay for 2011/12 season - Rugby
Adams Park based English rugby union side, London Wasps, have announced 13 players for the 2011/12 London Wasps Academy. The club has released the names of the Academy players for next season in a statement on their website posted on Monday, July 18.
The 13 academy players for the Wasps for 2011/12 season are Joe Burton, Chris Elder, Alec Hepburn, Jonah Holmes, Sam Jones, Joe Launchbury, Nathan Morris, Billy Vunipola, Sam Northcote Green (part-time), Will Robinson, Mitchell Tamiau, Lewis Thiede and Elliot Daly.
Following their impressive performance for the Wasps in Premiership games, former Wasps academy products Jack Wallace and Christian Wade have been given their professional contracts with the Wasps senior side.
Four of the announced thirteen players were part of the Wasps academy last season. These four players are Joe Launchbury, Chris Elder, Jonah Holmes, and Sam Jones.
Out of the announced 13 players, the inclusion of the Joe Burton is not finalised yet. However, Nathan Morris, Elliot Daly, and Billy Vunipola have become full time Wasps academy players.
The trio has recently completed their studies as they join the Academy on a full time basis. Nathan Morris, Elliot Daly, and Billy Vunipola have completed their studies from Sedburgh, Whitgift, and Harrow respectively.
Wasps Academy has also handed over a part time contract to Sam Northcote Green. Sam will start his studies at university and will join the Academy during university holidays. Sam is also dual registered with Blaydon RFC.
Like previous years, the Wasps Academy’s connections with local clubs, particularly with London Scottish and Rosslyn Park, is apparent following the dual registration of a number of their 2011/12 season Academy players.
Elliot Daly, Jonah Holmes, Sam Jones, Joe Launchbury, Mitchel Tamiau, Lewis Thiede and Billy Vunipola are dual registered with the London Scottish. Whereas the duo of Will Robinson and Nathan Morris are dual registered with the Rosslyn Park.
In addition to Scottish and Roslyn Park, Chris Elder is dual registered with Henley Hawks.
