London Wasps acquire Matt Everard, James Harris and Genaro Fessia - Rugby News
The Adams Park based English Rugby Union club, London Wasps, has announced the inclusion of the back row forwards’ trio of Matt Everard, James Harris and Genaro Fessia for their 2012 season’s campaign.
The Wasps' have handed over a professional contract to the duo of Matt Everard & James Harris. The duo delivered exceptional performance during Wasps weekend win over Munster. Meanwhile, the Argentinean international flanker, Genaro Fessia, will join the
Wasps on a trial period.
Officials at the club have confirmed the inclusion of the trio in a statement released on their website on Friday, August 26. The acquisition of these players will give the Wasps the much required depth for their upcoming Aviva Premiership and Heineken Cup’s
seasons.
London Wasps, Director of Rugby, Dai Young, has expressed his delight on the signing of the players. He termed the inclusion of the trio as very important additions into the squad. He added, “We’ve brought in two young flankers who have plenty of potential
and Genaro’s international experience will certainly help provide much stronger depth to our back row.”
Wasps will be without the services of their talented and experienced flanker, Tom Rees. Earlier in this month, Rees sustained an injury to his knee, which forced him to undergo surgery. The subsequent rehabilitation has ruled him out of the game for next
6 to 9 months.
Young confirmed that the injuries to several of their original back row forward players have forced them to add more options in their forwards line. He said, “Back row is an area we needed to strengthen as we’ve had some injuries there which means we are
lighter there than we’d like.”
The 20-year-old Everard will join the Wasps from the Leicester Tigers. He was part of the England Under-20s squad during the 2011 International Rugby Board’s (IRB) 2011 Junior World Championship. He has also led England at Under-18s and Under-19s level.
The 24-year-old James Harris is a professional Welsh Rugby Union player. He made his senior rugby union club debut for Newport Gwent Dragons in September 2006. He previously has represented the Wales at the Under-20s, Under-19s and at Sevens level.
The 30-year-old Argentinean back row forward Genaro Fessia is a surprise omission from the Los Pumas 2011 Rugby World Cup campaign.  He has made nine international appearances for Argentina so far. He has also expressed his desire to win a professional contract
with the Wasps, during his short stay at the club.
