London Wasps coach Shaun Edwards looking for younger players – Aviva Premiership
Shaun Edwards the London Wasps head coach has announced his squad that will be facing Leicester on Saturday in Aviva Premiership clash at Welford Road.
Edwards only made five visible changes to the squad in the starting lineup. He tried to modify the first fifteen that lost last weekend to Gloucester in campaign’s crucial match.
Nic Berry and Mark Van Gisbergen have made their way back to the back line and Joe Launchbury, Marty Veale and Tom Lindsay will be starting this weekend for London Wasps in first fifteen. Captaincy has been given to Richard Birkett.
In the absence of Tom Varndell, Ben Jacobs will be taking charge of the wing and Van Gisbergen has been sent back to his original position, fullback. Nic Berry will moving in the number nine jersey on Saturday.
Joe Ward will be sidelined as Tom Lindsay take on as hooker in his place, while Marty Veale will be replacing James Cannon as a lock. Joe Launchbury, the U-20 star has been called upon to start for London Wasps as a flanker. Shaun Edwards has put his trust
in the young blood and is expecting good results this time. Joe Worsley will be starting as number eight for the club.
After checking the track record of London Wasps at Welford Road, we can assume that the club has an upper hand and will be playing confidently against Leicester, who is also in good form. London Wasps have won two fixtures out of three at Welford Road and
the one they played against Leicester, turned out to be in theor avor with 37-30 score difference.
Leicester has not announced its squad as yet and is expected to disclose it by tomorrow.
As replacement s from jersey number 16 to 23 Wasps consists of Joe Ward, Shaun Ruwers, Bob Barker, James Cannon, Sam Jones, Joe Simpson, Steve Kefu and Jack Wallace respectively.
Before the match kicks off on Saturday at Welford Road, Leicester will be making sure to choose a squad that is not only traditionally attacking, but can also defend against young and sturdy Wasps attack. London Wasps on the other hand has gone for a much
younger side with less experience but immense talent. Past few unpredictable performances by Wasps’ squad has left other teams in doubt. This fixture is important for both the sides, which already working on strategies and studying their opponents.
