London Wasps pair agrees to new dealsTom Varndell and Dan Ward-Smith have agreed to new deals with Premiership side London Wasps.Winger Varndell and second-row Ward-Smith both had contracts that were due to expire at the end of the current season. The pair both made 29 appearances last season and will stay at the club until at least 2013.Director of rugby Tony Hanks said: "We are really pleased to secure the services of these two quality players. Both Tom and Dan have bought into the Wasps way and established themselves as key members of the squad."It was very important for the Wasps to secure the futures of these two talented and experienced players. Varndell and Ward-Smith have lots of skills that make them key players in the club.Key playersVarndell is one of the most attacking players in the club. He is as quick as anyone else in the side and this makes him a very useful attacking weapon. His position out wide can take a lot of pressure away from the middle of the team. His pace also allows him to get back and defend when needed.Ward-Smith relies on his positioning and strength in the central areas. As a second-row player he has to time his tackles perfectly and this is something he does well. His passing is superb and means the ball can go wider in a split second. He is vocal and key in organising the team in the middle. Both players have a very good kicking game. Varndell chips well, which can set up passes and allow the Wasps to flood up the pitch. Ward-Smith can kick long from defence allowing the side to gain territory and eradicate opposition attacks.Hanks added: "Retention of key members is vital and we are excited about the squad we are building short and long term."Betting adviceThe Wasps have a very good chance of making the top four by the end of the season. Have a small punt on them to do so. Varndell should score a few points this season and is a candidate to score in any match.
