London Wasps thump Rovigo by monstrous difference of 38-7 in Amlin Challenge Cup – Rugby News
London Wasps crushed Rovigo by a huge margin of 38-7 in their second match of the ongoing Amlin Challenge Cup 2011, played on November 20, at Wycombe. London Wasps proved too strong for the rusty Rovigo and bagged the second consecutive victory in the event.
Wasps, with this particular victory, have become the table toppers among the other Pool 3 sides. Meanwhile, Rovigo has yet to taste a triumph in the tournament as they have lost two matches so far. They are currently placed exactly at the bottom of the ladder
after two outings.
London Wasps side was in excellent touch as they produced bonus point victories on both occasions they played in Amlin Cup. They entered the field with great confidence and straightaway took an early lead with the help of fly-half Nicky Robinson’s penalty
goal.
Their lead was diminished by Rovigo for the first and last time in the match during the sixth minute. Riccardo Pavan scored the only try of his team which was converted by Davide Duca. Nothing more happened for Rovigo afterwards and they cut a sorry figure
at 7 points.
