London Welsh acquire Billy Moss for their 2011/12 season campaign – Rugby news
Old deer park based English rugby union club, London Welsh, has acquired the services of the young and talented prop, Billy Moss, in a bid to strengthen their squad for the 2011/12 season campaign.
Moss is a former England Under-20s international prop and is currently registered with Bath Rugby.
London Welsh has confirmed the signing of Moss on loan from Bath Rugby on Tuesday, July 26. The club has made the official announcement in a statement released on their website, earlier on Tuesday. Moss will remain with the Welsh for their next season campaign
as part of the loan deal which guarantees season long dual registration with both Welsh and Bath.
The 23-year-old Moss has progressed his way up from the RFU’s Championship league to the Aviva Premiership. In 2010/11 season, Moss played for Bristol Rugby and enjoyed temporary success.
Moss has expressed his delight at the opportunity to play for the London Welsh in the English top-level premiership. He hoped that he would improve his game, develop new skills and most importantly gain the experience to play with the senior teams. Moss
further added, “My target next season is to be London Welsh's first choice loosehead but I know that may take a little bit of time.”
When asked about his experience of playing for Bristol in 2010/11 Championship season, Moss replied, “I really enjoyed playing in the Championship with Bristol. I found it challenging at times but satisfying. The standard in the Championship was very high
but I never expected it to be anything else.”
However, he added, that his attention is fully diverted on his new team, London Welsh, where he’ll be playing for the season.
Tunbridge Wells born Moss has represented the England at under 18s, 19s and under 21s level.
Currently, he is studying at Exeter University. In 2011/12 Premiership season, Moss will be looking forward to make his debut for the professional side and look to earn his first professional contract with his impressive on-field performance.
