  1. According to Transport for London, cycling is the fastest way to get from Pimlico to Surrey Quays -- 30 mins each way compared to 45mins to an hour-plus for bus or tube/bus. And it passes lots of interesting places, too, which is always a bonus. =D

Among the landmarks you pass are Tate Britain, the Thames (via Lambeth Bridge), Lambeth Palace, the Young Vic theatre, the old Menier Chocolate Factory (now an arts gallery complex), and the Bramah Tea & Coffee Museum (fun place: haven't been there for ages -- must visit again!)

You also pass just a street away from Southwark Cathedral, and just round the corner from London Bridge station you go past the London Dungeons.

You can see the full thing for yourself in map form by using the journey planner at http://tfl.gov.uk and clicking the 'advanced search' option. Scroll down and you'll see a box to click to include cycle routes. I use this a lot...

  2. Don't take the bike.... try the bus!  The C10 route in London runs straight from Pimlico to Surrey Quays, so you don't even need to change!
