London-edinburgh train for less than 20pounds?

last year, i could get a saver ticket through gner for 12.50 each way. im looking again and can´t find anything less than 100.00 pounds. i find it hard to believe prices have really gone up that much in one year! if i´m missing something, please let me know! thanks

  1. They have just simplified all the Price bands into some easier to follow ones, so maybe the good value one just vanished...isn't that the way.


  2. It depends how far in advance you book, and what time you want to travel. I've just done a test for 9th July, and there are single "advance" tickets on the 1100 and 1200 at £27.50, while earlier and later trains are £36.50. "Savers" or "Cheap days" are £101.40, and open singles are £126.

  3. Book 1 month in advance on national rail and get the first train out of kings cross in the morning it will cost you £58.00 return.
