I will arrive in London at about 2pm. Probably for getting to the hotel, checking in,taking a shower and everything will take me another 2 hours...

So what can I do in London after 6pm? As I could see, most museums and markets close rather early..

I don't want to waste my whole afternoon

  1. Check out the London lates website - they have details of galleries and museums that participate in late openings, including the British Museum, the National Gallery, the V&A and loads more.

The Barbican Centre has theatre and music performances, exhibitions, and films on after 6pm. You can see a film for only £5.50 if you go on Mondays - much cheaper than central London cinema chain prices. Plus, they have a great terrace restaurant and bar to relax in.

On Fridays and Saturdays, the Tate Modern is open until 10pm (last entry at 9.15pm). It's a great time to visit because all of the school trips and big tourist groups have gone home by then.

(Note: The Tate Britain is open until 10pm on the first Friday of each month - http://www.tate.org.uk/britain/)

There's always the London Eye - if you can catch sunset, there are beautiful views :)

If you'd rather save sightseeing for daylight hours, then treat yourself to dinner! Check out http://www.london-eating.co.uk/ and http://www.toptable.co.uk/ for restaurants near your hotel.

    Enjoy your trip! :)

  2. Go see Big Ben. Or just walk around, it's a beautiful city. You might just want to go by a river or lake and sit around, it's really fun. :-)

  3. Visit Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus - they are more fun in the evening.  Go to Chinatown for dinner

All these things are in the same area of town - use Piccadilly Circus or Leicester Square tube (subway) station
