Question:

London in the rain - where should I visit?

I'm going to visit London with a friend on Friday, we've already decided to have a look at a museum briefly, neither of us are into art and both of our budgets are tight. Are there any fun, cheap sheltered attractions to visit that anyone can suggest?

We're mainly going to be around kings cross, the nearer to that the better.

  1. museums...all national museums are free.  Even if you're not into art, these other Museums are more about history and culture and you can't beat the price!  I recommend the British Museum but it is more up north a little out of the way. Also great, Victoria & Albert Museum and the Portrait Museum.  It's cool to put a face to all those historical figures (Check out the portrait of Lord Byron, looks eerily similar to Jude Law).

  2. You might consider the Sir John Soames museum off of Kingsway near the Inns of the Court--a quirky, interesting collection in his home.

Oxford/Regent Street shopping, Selfridges, Covent Garden, the London Transport Museum, a walking tour anywhere...no reason to let rain stop you!

  3. not all museum are about art- there is Pollock Toy museum/ the Theater museum, the Transport Museum-( both of those in Convert Gardens) the Florance Nightengale museum, the sherlock Holmes museum and the madame tussards ( both in the same area)-- all in london and many are free or low cost

  4. First of all it may not be raining.  Secondly there is so much to do and  see in London.  I have never let the rain stop me from doing anything, EVER.  I do no think any suggestions I have on places to see and things to do would be suited to you.  May I suggest you google Kings cross and I am sure that will bring up several things for you.  Good Luck.

  5. Madame Tussuad's

  6. I'm not into art either, but there are tons of other museums! Don't go to madame tussauds. Ridiculously overprices. buy a 4 pound underground travel card and bring an umbrella, and go to either the victoria & albert museum or the british museum. I guarantee you'll find something of interest in both of them. The Tate Modern is also...interesting? A lot of modern art. Very weird, but a lot of people enjoy it. London is very large, and I dont know of a lot of good attractions near kings cross. You may have to get out in the rain a bit.

  7. london and not raining rare thing

but you can still to everything try the eye

  8. Okay, since you're not a art person- I can't help you too much- but do try to check out the Tate Modern- I heard they have a really sweet graffiti exhibit. And why would you want to skip that?

I'm visiting Kings Cross in a few weeks- and I'm happy about how close it is to Camden Town. Try visiting Camden Town.

The BBC offers free visits to the taping of shows- though nothing going on now looks very interesting, maybe you can find something for yourself:

See a Jack the Ripper tour? or many of the other walking tours.
