Whilst the French have a pretty flat skyline except for the Effiel Tower and New York is full of complementing sky scrapers London however is neither of these things, just a mish mash of ugly buildings...The gurkin being one of them...a 100yrs ago the skyline was like that of pragues...full of old buildings and steeples (like on Mary Poppins with the chimney sweepers) but now the london skyline is ugly...how far do you agree? if at all? who likes it?

  1. I think that the view of Big Ben and Parliament from across the Thames is spectacular and a great tourist attraction.  The view of the city from the top of St. Paul's cathedral dome is great too, and all the better for the challenge of climbing up the increasingly narrow staircase.

There are some buildings that I'm not so excited about, though, like OXO Tower and the rail bridge across the Thames into Charing Cross.  And to be honest I'm no thrilled about the Millennium Eye.  Better view from within than from, for example, St. James's Park where the view to the south is obstructed by the Eye.

All in all, London's skyline is still better than many cities around the world.
