how tiring and expensive is it to travel from london to glasgow on your own car. how many stopovers are advisable and how much fuel will be required.

According to Multimap it's 410 miles from London to Glasgow and it would take 7 hours and 11 minutes to drive the distance.  I reckon you would need to stop for a break in the Manchester area.  I don't think it would be necessary to stop overnight on the way.  If you were driving a car that does 30mpg then you would use 13.7 gallons of fuel and it would cost approximately 110 pounds with fuel at 1.80 pounds per litre.
