London undergoes final inspection by IOC officials before London 2012 Olympic Games
The officials from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recently visited the capital of England in order to carry out the final round of inspections before the London 2012 Olympic Games begin on July 27.
The inspection visit of the IOC is scheduled to last for a period of three days. The start of the inspection took place as Jacques Rogge, who is the president of the IOC, held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron.
The venue of the meeting was the abode of the Prime Minister in Downing Street. In all probability, the meeting between the President of the IOC and Cameron will be the last one before the London 2012 Olympic Games start.
The Prime Minister David Cameron expressed himself on the Olympic Games by making the following statements, “Though much has been done, I am acutely aware that the drive to embed and secure the benefits of London 2012 is still to come. That is our biggest
challenge. It's also our greatest opportunity.”
On the other hand, IOC president Jacques Rogge shared his views by giving the following comments, “London has raised the bar on how to deliver a lasting legacy. We can already see tangible results in the remarkable regeneration of east London. This great
historical city has created a legacy blueprint for future Games hosts.”
The Olympic legacy aims to provide the city of London with benefits that will be lasting as well as environment friendly. The venues created for the London 2012 Olympic Games, particularly the Olympic Park, are planned to provide the local people with a
lasting sporting facility. Not only that, economic impact of the Olympic Games is predicted to be both durable as well as self sustaining.
The bid that was made to secure the 2012 Summer Olympic Games was based on the point that London would give the world the greenest Games that have been seen yet. For that purpose, one of the underlying points in the Olympics legacy is the regeneration of
materials. The Olympics legacy blueprint of the government of UK is called Beyond 2012.
