London underground/bus/taxi help please?

I've got to travel from London Kings Cross station to the US Embassy but I don't know London very well and i've never used the underground on my own before?

What is the easiest way to get from kings cros to the US Embassy?

Any idea's roughly how much a taxi would cost?

If my train gets in at 10.30 and my appointment is at 11.30 will that give me enough time?

Thank you so much in advance x

  1. The maps on the tube should be easy enough.  I visited in December 2006 from California and i figured it out alright.

  2. If you go to multimap.com and tap in 'grosvenor square' you can see where the US embassy is and the nearest tube which is Bond street.  Scroll out and look North East and you will see Kings Cross Station.  You have plenty of time to get the underground to Bond street and walk the last few minutes.  You can see a tube map at the Transport for London website (tfl.gov.uk - I think).

  3. A cab is the easiest.

The nearest tube is probably Marble Arch with a walk of about 5-10 mins to the US embassy

  4. The nearest tube is bond street or marble arch then its a 10 - 15 min walk from there. A Taxi would be easier. shouldn't cost more than £10. an hour will be plenty of time, you could walk it in that.

check this site for travel info.

you can get cab info here

    http://www.taxi-first.co.uk/quote.htm

    It is about 2.6 miles

the nearest tube is BOND street

you can check the tube journey here.

  6. i dont know where the us embassy is otherwise i might of been able to help you.

  7. Rely on the tube at your own peril, if i had an important engagement in central London, a taxi from the station would be my preference, and guaranteed to get you there with time to spare, cost will be around  ÃƒÂ‚£10.00,  a small price to pay for being on time.

  8. If you go to Marble Arch or Bond Street Station then you will be able to get a taxi from there, simply find a taxi that has stopped at the traffic lights without anyone in.

    Directions:

From Kings Cross get on the underground and go southbound on the Victoria Line (Bright Blue) until you get to Oxford Circus, change trains and go westbound on the Central Line (Red) with one stop to Bond Street Bond Street.

Once at the station leave the station's shopping center and go south on either two roads Gilbert Street or Davies Street until you get to the road named Brook Street. Once here turn right and follow the road until you get to Grosvenor Square. You won't miss it. and from Brook Street the American Embassy is on the far side, and you defiantly won't miss that.

The Underground will take 10 - 15min and the walk will take you 5min

My directions are perfect and you can trust me as I am a londoner and walk these streets often, but also still needed the help of a map

Go on google maps and type in bond street and then Grosvenor Square and you will see how short the time you walk will be and it would be silly to get a taxi

Hope this helps, Infact I am sure it will.

  9. Bus route no 10 to Hammersmith

get off at bus stop 'S' in Park Lane

walk back to Upper Grosvener Street and follow to US embassy, about 30min

buy a one day bus ticket from machine £3.50
