I will travel from New York to London on Thursday. Londoners, I need your help. I will go from Heathrow to the Pembridge Hotel located at 55 Princes SquareLondon, England W2 4PX United Kingdom and I plan to take the Tube. Is that safe? I know the Pembridge is only a 2 star hotel but I'll be spending most of my time enjoying the city and visiting a couple of other countries, so the ambiance of the hotel isn't that important. I want to know if that neighborhood is safe for a lady to enter alone because I've read some reviews on the internet and now it doesn't seem lilke such a good idea. I will be meeting my party there but they don't arrive until later that day. If I can't check in the hotel early what will I do? Do I just wait there or should I change hotels?

Also, will that be an easy commute from Heathrow to 55 Princes Square? Should I just take a taxi?

Please give me some advice because I'm a bundle of nerves in anticipation.

  2. That is a VERY nice part of London. Dont know the hotel so cant say about that but area is pretty safe there. Could take a taxi but cheaper to take the tube. Take the underground from Heathrow to Earls Court. Change there for District Line train heading towards Edgeware Road and get off at Bayswater. Can walk from there or cab it.

  3. yes that area of London is fine, especially during the day ... there are quite a number of "ladies of the night" (i.e. prostitutes) around that area simply because it is a tourist area, they're unlikely to bother you and if you're going to be with a bunch of friends most of the time I can't see you've got anything to worry about ... the tube is perfectly safe to travel on and I see someone has already told you how to get there and that should be fine as long as you don't have lots of luggage ... if you do have lots of luggage you might find the Heathrow Express train into Paddington and a taxi from there easier, but it would be more expensive ... just don't think of getting a taxi from the airport as that would be much much more expensive ... have you asked the hotel if you can have an early check-in? most hotel check-ins are after lunch but if you've just come off an overnight flight you're going to be wanting to have a rest, if you've pre-warned them you're arriving early they might be able to clean your room first and let you in earlier ... if you can't get an early check in I would go straight to the hotel anyway and leave your luggage there and go out and find a nice cafe and chill out with a coffee and a newspaper ... I wouldn't bother trying to change hotels as I think you'll find they all have roughly the same check-in policy
