  1. You have to pay to go past the toll thingys.

  2. its another way in charging tax after tax after tax for more luxuries for those fat bald politicians.

  3. It means that if you cross a red circle with a white C in it while you are driving during the hours of operation you must pay £8.  You can pay this online via the cclondon website (just google cclondon or I'm sure one of the other answerers will link to the website.

It limits the amount of traffic in central london during peak hours.  If you must travel by car into the centre during the zone times then you must pay by 10pm that night.  You can pay the next day but it will cost you more.  If you're not sure if you are going through the zone then check the map or look out for the symbols on the road.  It has been extended west towards Notting Hill so be sure to look out for it there too.  Given that parking is so expensive in Central London anyway you might be better parking outside the zone and travelling in using public transport.

  4. It's £8 a day, ant it's basically extortion.

  5. It is a toll fee to reduce congestion in the city.

However, it is now becoming a pollution tax...as hybrid or electric vehicle are exempted.

It cost £8 monday to friday 7am to 6pm

There are no real tolls as your entrance into the Ccharge zone is monitored by CCTV.

Therefore, you need to be aware that you've entered the zone to then pay the fee via internet, phone or txt (sms).

  6. It is used on weekdays whilst the traffic is at it's peak (nearly all day) It is a scheme that brings in money for the government. Some people are willing to spend the money each and every day that they travel by car in central london. It also is believed to help the environment as it discourages people to use their cars and use public transport eg trains and the underground.

I Think that is just helps the government as anyone with common sense (with the exception of people who need to transport thing by using cars) should use public transport and does, because it takes too long to get from A to B in london.

    Hope this helps

    Sam!

  8. No this is how it works you buy a car they add purchase tax then vat. you then have to pay road fund licience (more tax) then you get to pay one of the highest fuel taxes in europe the bigger the engine the more tax you get to pay, because you got a big engine you use more fuel so the more tax you get to pay, then if you want to drive in London do you get to pay the congestion charge (are you getting it now?) How ever if you drive a big lorry that doesn't comply with the latest EU gubbing you get to pay £100 PER DAY This is all to help us to be green (or stupid) quite easy really.

  9. The London congestion charge is a fee for some motorists travelling within those parts of London designated as the Congestion Charge Zone (CCZ). The main objectives of this charge are to reduce congestion, and to raise funds for investment in London's transport system. The zone came into operation in parts of Central London on 17 February 2003 and it was extended into parts of West London on 19 February 2007. Although not the first scheme of its kind in the United Kingdom, it was the largest when it was introduced, and it remains one of the largest in the world. Worldwide, several cities have referenced the London scheme when considering their own possible schemes. A payment of £8 is required for each day a chargeable vehicle enters or travels within the zone between 7am and 6pm; a fine of between £60 and £180 is imposed for non-payment.
