Lonely Boy heads market for Betfred Bingo Stayers Trophy at Nottingham
Lonely Boy’s recent success at Sheffield forced the bookmakers to declare him favourite for Betfred Bingo Stayers Trophy, being held at Nottingham on Monday, April 30, 2012.
After displaying a lacklustre show at Shawfield, the black dog travelled to Sheffield in search of a victory. Luck twisted in his favour, as he grabbed the winning cheque in a 500 metres heat.
Charlie Lister’s trainee beat Proper Nora by four and a half lengths. He was not among the leaders early on, but his superb running helped him establish his dominance later in the race.
After attaining a decent lead, the hound did not let anyone spoil his party. With such a tremendous win under his belt, the son of Digital is all set to rock the party.
The 680 metres flat heat will be started at 21:07 GMT. Six quality runners will compete for a cash prize of £200. Their names are: Lonely Boy, Imperial Boy, Turibius, Hey Kiddo, Crooks Valentino and Mosquito Pilot.
Lonely Boy will be given a hard time by Imperial Boy. The black dog was not impressive last time out, but who can forget his two fantastic wins earlier this month.
In mid April, P. White’s trainee secured the top place by four and a half lengths. The hound is in good form and should trouble the judge tonight.
Turibius has been struggling with his form since the last success in February. The white and black dog finished fourth in each of the previous three races. In an attempt to outsmart this line-up, he will have to deliver something special.
Crooks Valentino is fresh winner, but he faced a lot weaker opposition last time around. If he wants to fancy his chances tonight, he needs to get an early lead to inflict some pressure on his rivals. Similarly, Mosquito Pilot needs a fast start to have
any prospects tonight.
Imperial Boy’s chances are obvious, but Charlie Lister’s trainee, Lonely Boy, is more likely to dominate the proceedings. No matter who wins, it is going to be an awe-inspiring contest. We wish the best of luck to everyone.
