  1. Maybe, if you really want a pet mouse, trade him in at the pet store, so someone who is ok with having a boy or someone who wants to breed mice will adopt him.

You should get a female, but ask the store to double check. For now, make some toys for him to explore, perhaps even a second level. Put baby boots, tubes, blocks, leaves, paper to shred, rope to climb, .. :) good luck

ANYWAY, it IS a big cage for one mouse, lucky him

  2. Sorry--you actually can't get him a male friend.  Female mice usually get along in groups, but the males are very territorial.  Brothers that are raised together and never separated, even for an hour, will squabble every time the cage is cleaned to renegotiate their relationship.  Occasionally they can be kept together through adulthood, but often even they need to each have a separate cate.  You absolutely cannot introduce a male mouse to another male mouse he hasn't grown up with, nor can you take brothers, separate them overnight even, and expect them to get along.  They will fight to the death.

If you get a female friend for him, start figuring out now what you'll do with all those babies--you can use 10 new babies per adult female (over 6 weeks old) every 4 weeks as a planning number.  It's not good for the females to have back to back litters, either.  I can't recommend getting him a girlfriend!

So, it's completely normal to have a male housed alone, and it's actually also normal for him to be a bit bummed and lonely about it.  What you can do is get him a big enough cage for him to have fun things to do in it.  He should have a wheel, bedding deep enough to dig under and hide in, and some sort of cardboard box or tube or both to hide in/under, that you change out when you clean the cage, or you can buy that sort of thing and clean them every time but they seem to be just as happy with cardboard.

And then you can take him out every day and handle him for a bit, and give him a play area he can explore.  And treats!  If he's active and has something to do, he should be more active and not sleep quite so much.

Oh, and vegetable oil is a good lubricant for squeaky wheels that won't hurt him if the wheel starts driving you crazy when he gets more active.

  3. you could always try to get a boy and see what happens. If it doesn't work out give it away to someone that will take care of it

  4. I would get a female mouse but if you don't want babies get a male mouse.

  5. get him another girl mousey!! or a boy one to be his friend. or boyfriend..

  6. don't get another mouse. I had 2 mice once, and one was male and the other was female. This mouse was having baby mice every 3 weeks, and she had a lot at a time.

  7. u could always get another 1 male or female and get 1 of them done so they cant av babies im not to sure on this 1 or u could get an extra cage and put the cages sidee by side so they can chat to 1 another . and wen u get 1 out u could get the other out so they can c each other just keep an eye on them

  8. weeelll, you could get another boy mouse.
