Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team defeats Los Angeles Pierce College by 3-0
Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team did themselves proud on Friday. The team was up against the Los Angeles Pierce College, whom Long Beach was able to defeat decisively. The win that Long Beach got for themselves was obtained in the Western State
Conference match.
The victory that Long Beach was able to achieve recently was not an ordinary one. The win translated into competing for the championship title for Long Beach. This is not the first time that Long Beach has earned itself this honour rather, they have been
able to bag the opportunity a total of six times previously. They have been able to do this over a period of eight years.
In the last match that Long Beach played, they were able to smoother Pierce College completely. The only time that Pierce College showed some sign of life was in the third set of the match. By the time the night was out and Long Beach was jubilant with yet
another WSC title win, the scoreboard read as 25-16, 25-16, and 25-23.
The victory that they have been able to earn has brought up the number of wins that Long Beach has been able to earn in this season so far to a figure of 13. They have been able to achieve this number at the expense of suffering an impressively low amount
of losses that add up to be four.
The WSC statistics of Long Beach are also commendable. The number of times that Long Beach has been able to tally wins are eight. They have suffered a total of two losses in the WSC while securing these wins.
As soon as the first set of the match started off, Long Beach went in for the kill. They did not waste any time to get into form and took on Pierce College in a fierce way. Both the attack and the defence of Long Beach were coordinating well with each other
to keep the pressure on their opponents. Once Long Beach had the lead for themselves, they kept on stretching their advantage till the point that Long Beach had bagged the first set of the game at 25-16.
The second set of the match went much the same way as the previous one. Pierce College could not do much to stop Long Beach from gaining dominance at the court. It seemed as if Pierce College was putting in a half-hearted effort that earned Long Beach another
win at 25-16.
After losing the first two sets of the game, Pierce College stepped up their effort in the third. However, it was too late by this time as Long Beach had already built their momentum. Long Beach took the final set of the game at 25-23.
Now that Long Beach will be competing in the WSC championship, only time will tell what the outcome will be.
