Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team loses to Santa Barbara City College on Wednesday
A conference match played on Wednesday between the Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team and Santa Barbara City College did not fail to thrill the spectators.
In an impressive display of skill and talent, both the teams fought each other until the end. As a result, the night saw the match go on to five long and entertaining sets.
By the time, the night was out however, Santa Barbara had established themselves as the victors by sealing the deal at 3-2. The host team lost the West State Conference match to the visitors by the following set scores: 17-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-12, and 15-13.
The loss of the match has put an end to a winning streak that LBCC had been able to extend until 10 matches. On the other hand, the victory has enabled SBCC to further stretch their winning streak to a total number of five wins.
The recent loss has brought the number of overall season defeats of LBCC to three. They have paid this cost of defeats while enjoying a commendable amount of 11 victories. If the WSC record of LBCC is observed, it reflects their victories to total the amount
of six.
These wins have been accomplished after LBCC suffered one loss only. In contrast to this, the overall season record of SBCC shows a total of nine wins that have been bagged so far. These moments of glory have come their way after SBCC had undergone a total
number of losses that amount to be six.
As opposed to SBCC’s overall season record, the WSC statistics show a much better performance. They have been able to bag six wins so far. These victories have been registered while SBCC tallied a total of two defeats.
The first set of the match started off with both LBCC and SBCC trying to take control early on. However, LBCC came out the stronger of the two as SBCC adjusted to the external pressure of playing in the home ground of the host team. As a result, LBCC was
able to take the first set of the game at 25-17.
Down by one set, SBCC was able to step up their game and put up a real challenge for LBCC in the second round. However, it was not until late in the set that SBCC was able to make any headway. LBCC was going strong with a lead of 20-17 but SBCC was able
to push past their rivals and grab the second set for themselves at 25-23.
The third set bounced the game back in the hands of LBCC as they took it at 25-18. Not giving up, SBCC rallied themselves together and put in a commendable effort that got them the next two sets and also the match win.
The next match that LBCC will play is scheduled for Friday.
