On the other hand, the defence of Long Beach State was also doing wonders as it was able to constrain UC Irvine to a menial .08 hitting percentage.

the gap but they could not contain Long Beach State who went on to a 11-6 advantage. Before long, Long Beach State was speeding ahead with an impressive lead of 20-7. It was not long after that point that Long Beach State was able to bag the opening set of
the game at 25-10.

advantage to 13-6. The attackers on the Long Beach State team were able to propel their side forwards to a 18-7 advantage that got them another win at 25-11.
A two set deficit did not do well for the UC Irvine squad and they could not step up their game to challenge Long Beach State significantly. After Long Beach State took the lead at 14-9 they did not look back until the set was theirs at 25-15.
