Long Distance Calls to England from OHIO!!!!

Question

So, I'm going to England in a week and I would like to take my phone, but it's quite expensive to make long distance calls to Ohio. If someone texts or calls me long distance, regardless of whether I answer or not, I get charged. =p

If someone calls me or texts me while my phone is off, when I turn it on, yet again regardless of my answering, I get charged.

Is there someway to make it so that I don't get calls or texts? Can I block calls and texts or something until I need to make a call?

If so, I'd appreciate any help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Get a new plan, one that has unlimited long distance.  And texts should make no difference.

Not really sure...but I know that it cost money...hopefully that helps...but it still doesn't answer your question...Sorry...look it up!

It depends so much on your carrier.  You'll have to call your cell phone company and ask them.

Your phone will not work in Europe, unless you have a world phone.  Find out if this is the case, as if you can't get calls, you may as well leave your phone at home.  You will also need to figure out how you are going to be charging your phone, as the wall charger will not be compatible.  

Other than that, why not just send a text message to all your contacts that you will be out of the country for however many weeks you will be gone, and you will contact everybody when you get back home.

use from a PC or laptop skype or voipstunt or similar softwer. From computer->to landline phone only 2 cents (from Ohio to England). Also you can call cellphone but it more expensive. From Ohio to US or Canada it is free.

Call the cell phone company and tell them to suspend your service for the dates you are going abroad. I do it all the time. I use my Skype phone on my laptop to talk to folks.

you can block text messaging but i not sure about blocking incoming calls.
