Long Run to put in all that he has now that Kauto Star has bid farewell
With the retirement of the star steeplechaser, Kauto Star, the fans of National Hunt racing are anxiously looking forward to see the next best, Long Run, start his chasing campaign. The season for him is highly likely to start with regaining command over
his King George VI Chase title. The line-up of thirty-one contestants less Kauto Star, should make the trip smooth and easy for the superb chaser.
The Cheltenham Gold Cup title also remains as one of the prime objectives to accomplish during the season.
His connections stated:
"It's very hard to tell the difference in a horse from one year to another until you get to the sharp end of a race. The results clearly stand for themselves in that he didn't run to the same mark as he did the year before but, in terms of how Long Run felt
through his races, I thought his jumping was significantly better than the year before and he was much more mature.”
"All these things bode well for the coming season. I think there is an incredibly exciting group of horses out there at the moment and every year a new star is born and everyone will be trying to lay claims for the title of Kauto Star's successor."
Besides his best, Long Run, trainer, Nicky Henderson, also has added to his team, Bobs Worth, Finian’s Rainbow and Riverside Theatre.
A come back entry after almost two years is, Sizing Europe, and Colin Tizzard trained, Cue Card has also become one of the leading contenders after a highly impressive success in the Haldon Gold Cup.
Kauto Star’s successor, Long Run is backed by the success in Grade 2 Betfair Denman Chase and a third position in the Grade 1 Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase.
If he will be able to fill in the shoes of the retired star or not, cannot be determined just as yet, and racing after nearly a year, will only make things certain once he steps down on a race track. The connections are confident about the improvement in
their charge and are just waiting for him to add another win on the profile.
