  1. Daddybea is right, There are so many conflicting answer's. but I am sure you will not have to prove an income.

Even Khun Bob is wrong about no such thing as a 90 day visa, I got one in Singapore 5 months ago, It was a type"O" non immigrant visa, but I had to show a copy of my marriage cert

  2. when I apply for one year visas I have to make a declaration that I have sufficient funds to support myself without providing any proof. With so much conflicting advise on this site about visas I suggest you download the forms from The Thai Consul and read them.

  3. My answer to you is basis on you being from a western country.  No such thing as a 90 day visa.  You can get a tourist visa good for 60 days and then go to immigration to extend your tourist visa 30 days at a cost of 1,900 baht. You could also come on a exempt visa status for 30 days (no visa is required) and then when you 30 days is up do what is called a visa run to another country i. e. Cambodia, Laos, Burma.  They do have tour agencies who arranges these tours.  You can only do this for a total of 90 days, then you can not enter Thailand for 180 days.  As for money the law is that you must have at least  10,000 baht, but no one every checks.

  4. Believe you have to show you have the means to support yourself while in country, and believe this is THB 20,000. they may or may not ask you to show this. The rules say you have to show this, but not all embassies enforce this rule...so all depends on where you apply for the visa.

GavinS....actually Khun Bob is right.....the 90 day Non-imm "O" visa you are talking about is based on marriage, the OP is not married, therefore will only be able to get a 60 day tourist + 30 day extension, as technically has no other reason to be in Thailand other than being a tourist. Having a GF here is not a valid reason to be issued with a 90 day.

You are not comparing apples with apples...

  5. i want to stay in thailand for 159 years eleafants walk on streets

  6. If you are over 50 then you can get a one year visa married or not.  Here are the rules.

Foreigners entering Thailand under the Tourist Visa or Tourist Visa Exemption category must possess adequate finances for the duration of stay in Thailand (i.e., cash 10,000 Baht per person).  And show evidence of ability to travel from Thailand (air ticket paid in full)

  7. Sent you an email>

There is a lot of good information on here already, even if some of it is conflicting.  The 60 day TR (tourist) Visa comes with an automatic 30 day extension.  This may be done at any immigration office in Thailand.  The cost is 1900 baht.  Proof of funds is generally not asked for if you are from North America, England or the EU.  Proof of onward travel is asked for.
