Question:

Long Train Journey...?

by  |  earlier

I'm going on a really long train journey this week, and I need some ways to pass the time without being bored to tears!!! I get travel sick easily so I can't read or do puzzles or anything, which sucks. I have a load of music to take with me, but other than that, what can I do???

Also, if anyone has any miracle cures for travel sickness that would help too =)

Thank you

  1. There are over counter remedies for motion sickness, they may not completely alleviate the problem but they do help.

sit by a window if you can, face forward.

When you look out, look farther away from the train and not close, seeing the horizon seems to help better than seeing the things nearby whizzing past.

Most people's motin seikness gets a bit better after a few hours, not always unfortunately.

The advice about being tired when you get on is sound, I always advise people to do that, then you can sleep for a good bit of the trip and arrive somewhat rested.

Good Luck and enjoy your journey.

  2. stay awake for the 48 hours b4 the train so while your in it youll just pass out for at lest 5 hours of it

  3. go to the chemist and explain he will advise you what you need to take. Then you maybe able to read a book and do puzzles.

  4. While most people feel better facing forward, the odd one feels better looking back to where they have already been.

Best way to test is to stand up in the train and slowly turn around.

And do not assume you will be sick in the train, firstly, many people who can not travel in a car are perfectly alright in trains, secondly, people can grow over travel sickness.

Drinking cool but not cold water will help, but do not drink anything with bubbles (like cola) and do not eat fat foods like chips or french fries (crisps and chips if you are English) just before or during your travel.

And wear one earplug. It changes the sense of balance and as that is the most important reason people feel sick when in motion, it does help.
